Topics will include: building mental models, identifying payoffs for learning, developing question-making and labeling/sorting strategies.

The work of Dr. Ruby Payne, A Framework for Understanding Poverty, provides unique research and specific tactics to address the achievement obstacles children of poverty experience. This session will draw on Dr. Payne’s work to provide educators an opportunity to investigate the effects of economic class on school achievement and develop the competencies needed to help children of poverty succeed in the school setting. |
