History

Holmgreen Center's Alternative Vocational Program, formerly known as Special Education Night School (SENS), was founded over a decade ago by Alan FitzPatrick, Ph.D.  The program was designed to meet the educational needs of special education high school students who have been unsuccessful at their current campus. The goal of the Alternative Vocational Program is to create lifelong learning opportunities for students, through fulltime community employment. The Alternative Vocational Program serves as an alternative for special education high school students who are at risk of dropping out.

Hours

Students in the Alternative Vocational Program attend classes on the Holmgreen Center campus Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm. Students who are temporarily unemployed will attend from 4pm to 7pm in order to receive additional classroom vocational instruction. Transportation is not provided by NISD.
