Welcome

Welcome to the home page for the Psychological Services Department, and Thank You for taking the time to visit. This page is intended as a resource for parents and educators who have questions about the evaluation of students who are suspected of having a disability. Use the buttons to the left to find the information you are looking for. Also, consider visiting the Special Education Department web page to search the resources listed there. If you have come to this site looking for employment opportunities, please visit Human Resources to check for current job postings.

Who We Are describes the personnel who make up Psychological Services and briefly describes some of their duties. Click there if you want to learn more about the people who make up the Department.

What We Do outlines some of the duties performed by the School Psychologists in NISD. Keep in mind that the specific duties will vary from school to school.

To learn more about NISD's efforts to identify students with disabilities at early ages, go to Child Find.

Articles include original works from PSD employees about some facet of their work. Please respect the ownership rights of these authors and give them appropriate credit when quoting their work. The Director of Psychological Services edits these articles.

A lot of information is available through the internet, and there is no need to duplicate it all here. Go to Resources/Links to view sites that we find useful and informative. Keep in mind that these sites are not developed or maintained by Northside ISD.

Some questions seem to come up so frequently that it makes sense to publish the questions and the answers. You can find just such a list of Frequently Asked Questions here. If you don't find your question answered her, you can submit one and maybe it will be published!

There are interventions for a wide range of educational challenges listed at the Tips and Suggestions page. These are intended for parents who want to work with their child on improving school performance. They also can be used by educators as classroom modifications or as interventions listed on a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
