Northside Independent School District Special Education Program
Foster/Surrogate Parent Training Schedule
2010-2011
All Foster and Surrogate Parent of children with special needs attending Northside ISD are required to attend a one-time Foster and Surrogate Parent Training provided by Northside ISD (NISD) regarding Special Education and I.D.E.A. Once attended, the training requirement is fulfilled with the Special Education Department of NISD. In lieu of attending this district’s training, parents may submit copies of training certificates from foster agencies or the Department of Family and Protective Services for possible credit. Agencies will be contacted for copies of handouts and power point presentations to verify training included information regarding I.D.E.A. and meets the requirements of the Texas Education Code 29.011.
Three (3) identical sessions are offered on training days:
(Parent is only required to attend one class one time)
8:30 – 10:30 AM OR 12 Noon – 2:00 PM OR 6:00 – 8:00 PM
(Light meal provided at training)
