The digital camera is not just for the teacher anymore. Students from Kinder through 5th grade can learn to take pictures and integrate those pictures into a learning experience.
It is highly recommended that you teach the students HOW to use the camera and HOW to take care of the camera prior to the lesson. This should not take very long. Children are eager to learn how to take pictures.
Teachers can also integrate digital pictures into lessons they plan for students, whether they are primary or intermediate. Digital camera use is not limited to the TIP lab, it can be done in the classroom as part of your computer station or center time. Inserting pictures into other applications can also be done in the classroom.
Take a chance and give it a try. I am sure you will be pleased with both the enthusiasm for learning and the product outcome by students who use digital cameras as part of their learning.
