About me:
My name is Lynda Lynette Cardenas. I have been a registered nurse for
10 years. I am married to my highschool sweetheart, Armando and we
have 3 awesome kids: Tatiana, Giovanna, and Gian Carlo. I received
my BSN from the University of Incarnate Word. My professional experience
includes working on a Pedi floor at Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital,
Public Health Nursing with the City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health
District, and as a Pediatric Staff RN for Children First Pediatrics
Office. I also work for Methodist Health Care System as a Childbirth
Educator. This is my 4th year as a school nurse.
I would like to offer parents a few suggestions so that I can provide
safe and efficient care to our Stinson students:
UPCOMING SCREENINGS:
MEDICATIONS:
If your child requires medication at school, please provide me with the
doctor's orders and your written permission. The specific medication
forms, asthma action plans. and emergency anaphylactic forms can be
found on the NISD website: http://www.nisd.net/healthservices/ or can
be picked up in the nurse's office. These forms must be completed prior
to leaving medicines at the school. I cannot administer medications
to your child without these forms completed and signed by your doctor
and also signed by a parent.
PARENT CONTACT:
PLEASE keep me up to date with current phone numbers so that I can reach
you if your child is injured or ill. I will call you for pick up if
your child is ill and has a fever of 100 degrees or greater. I will
also call if your child is injured and seeing a physician is recommended.
You may also receive a call from me if I feel that there is a situation
that I just think you need to know about or if your child is visiting
the clinic but in my opinion does not need to go home. We can then discuss
the situation specifically and develop a plan for your child.
NO SHOTS! NO SCHOOL! NO KIDDING!
In regards to immunizations, please make sure your child is up to date.
Current recommendations from physicians are: Booster dose of Varicella
(Chicken Pox) vaccine, TDAP (Tetanus and Acellular Pertussis Vaccine)
and Meningococcal.
