Principal - Tommy GarciaMr. Garcia has lived in San Antonio all of his life. He graduated from Our Lady of The Lake University, and also received his Master of Education degree from "The Lake."
This school year Mr. Garcia will complete twenty-six years of service in education. He taught and coached grades 6 -12 in various schools in San Antonio before becoming an Assistant Principal in the South San Antonio Independent School District.. Mr. Garcia accepted a Principal position at South San Antonio High School West Campus in 1998 and served there for two years. West Campus High School was rated "Recognized" the two school years that Mr. Garcia was principal. In 2000 he became the principal at South San Antonio High School. Under Mr. Garcia's leadership South San Antonio High School was rated "Recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. In July of 2004 Mr. Garcia arrived at Taft High School as Taft's third principal. Mr. Roger Harris opened Taft High School in 1985. Harold Maldonado, currently the principal at John Paul Stevens High School, followed Mr. Harris as Taft's second principal.
Mr. Garcia is dedicated to doing "what is right" for students. He enjoys building relationships with students, parents, teachers, and staff at William Howard Taft High School and with the Taft community. He enjoys the collaborative relationship of Taft High School and Communications Arts High School and works closely with Principal Windy Barker.
Carolyn Morris - Principal's SecretaryMrs. Morris has been the Principal's Secretary almost since the doors opened at Taft. She has worked for all three principals! Thank you Mrs. Morris for being a mainstay on campus and for being a Raider!
