Video Distribution System

Technology Services has developed a series of basic training videos for the Video Distribution System located on the campuses. This introduction to your resource is designed as a reference. Each video training segment is developed as a stand-alone resource. Throughout these training videos, you will hear the phrase "The Black Rack." This rack is the heart of the distribution system.

Each rack will contain 4 agile modulators that are used to direct video signals to a specific channel.  *The 5th agile modulator will be located on a cart that sends the signal to another specific channel.  The following channel assignments are the standard throughout the district with the exception of a few campuses.

1.      The 1st modulator is designated as Channel 64.  This modulator is a spare for the future use. (i.e.: satellite or DVD player)

2.      The 2nd modulator is designated as Channel 65.  It is used with the VCR.

3.      The 3rd modulator is designated as Channel 66.  It is used with the VCR.

4.      The 4th modulator is designated as Channel 67.  It is used with the character generator.

5.      * The 5th modulator is designated as Channel 68.  This is a portable modulator that can be used at any remote location.

6.      Channels 69 and 70 are designated as additional channels for future use.

Important:  The fan on the rack must be on at all times to reduce the heat caused by the system.  Failure to do so will result in damaged equipment or total loss of the system.  Power to the rack should never be turned off.
