Each year students at Dr. Joe Ward Elementary participate
in a reading contest keeping track of the
number of minutes that the students read each day.
At the end of the contest a special event is held
for those students who participated in the contest.
This year to celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday students
were read books by Dr. Seuss. Students also got to
listen to a wonderful story told by our own
Mrs. Lara, the School Librarian and students got to
interact with The San Antonio Society
of Star Wars. The event culminated with a Magic Show.
Awards were then presented
to classroom winners with the most minutes read, then
grade levels and finally
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place school winners were recognized.
Each winner received books, posters,
pencils, and bookmarks
