Each year the Staff of Dr. Joe
Ward Elementary nominates teachers for the titles of Ward Elementary Teacher
of the Year and Sallie Mae or New Teachers of the Year. The nominees then
prepare posters about themselves and their lives as teachers and their
home lives. A secret ballot is then taken and the staff selects the Ward
Teacher of the Year and the Ward New Teacher of the Year to go on an compete
at the district level.
