Cracking Dams
Cracking Dams is an interactive multimedia web site for K-12 students about fracture mechanics and dams. Students learn about positive and negative impacts of dams and the societal effects of engineering. A Java applet allows the student to perform an engineering computer simulation of cracking in a dam. There are three levels of Cracking Dams: Beginning, K-4; Intermediate, 5-8; and Advanced, 9-12.
