Story Musgrave

Story Musgrave was born in Boston Massachusetts, August 19, 1955, considers Lexington, Kentucky to be his hometown. His favorite hobbies are chess, flying, gardening, literary, critcism, micro computers, parachuting, photography, reading, running, scuba diving, and also soaring. Story Musgrave graduated from St. Marks School in Boston, Massachusetts in 1962.

He received a Bachelor's Degree in Science, in Mathematics and Statistics from Syracuse University. In high school, he went to St. Marks School, South Borough in Massachusetts. Special honors he received were The National Defense Service Medal and an outstanding unit citation as a member of the United States Marine Corps Squadron, VMA-212L1959.

Story Musgrave also wrote beautiful poems. Some of his poems he wrote are  "Prelude and Amazonia."
He also wrote, " Pockets Filled With a Picnic Lunch," "Special Seed," "Ballistic Ballet," and "Oh, Bahamas."

Story Musgrave entered  the United States Marine Corp. in 1983. Musgrave first flew STS-6 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, on April 4,1983, and landed at Edwards Air force Base, California, on April 9,1983.
He had a wife  named Lorelii Lisa. He had three sons named Bradley Scott, Christopher Todd, and
Jeffrey Paul. Story also had two daughters named Patricia Jan and Holly Kay. Story Musgrave also has a relative named Joe Allen Musgrave. Musgrave flew on the STS-6 which left from the Kennedy Space Center. He was part of the Spacelab-2 crew and went on the Challenger.

Dr. Musgrave served  as the Systems Engineering bug  and entry, and being a pilot during the orbital operation.
He is notable for having flown six space shuttle missions (and the 1st) to help to  repair the Hubble space Telescope.

Story Musgrave's resume spans the professions of American  astronaut, pilot, professor,  and scientist/mathematician. Story Musgrave is also credited for helping to develop  much of the space suit life support systems, air lock and manned maneuvering units that are used for the space walks and other extravehicular activity on space shuttle missions.

Story Musgrave retired from NASA in 1997. He still shares his experiences through performances across the
USA and  the internet. He is a popular guest of the Astronaut Encounter Program at the Kennedy Space Center.
Story Musgrave has been awarded many medals for distinguished service just as well as educational fellowships
and other awards. Along with fellow astronaut Joe Allen, Musgrave served as a consultant at the film Missions to Mars in 2000.
