The LRV lookes like a go-kart with a color television that has a camera that can send photos back to Earth. It was a battery powered vehicle. It also allowed the astronauts to do three times the amount of work that they could do in the past. The LRV could go speeds of up to 10 miles per hour. The LRV was an electrical vehicle designed to operate in low gravity, vacuum of the moon and to be capable of traversing the moon's surface.
The Lunar Roving Vehicle was used to help astronauts get further than in the past. It can carry moon rocks, even large moon rocks. A rover was used on three traverses. One per day, over the three day course of each mission. The rover also took pictures of the moon. The astronauts brought the pictures back to Earth.
