Jupiter
by Logan

Jupiter is the fifth planet in our solar system. No one knows for sure who discoverd Jupiter but but we do know Galieo discoverd four moons on Jupiter they are Ganymede, Europa, Io and Callisto. Jupiter is also a Jovian planet just like Saturn, Uranus and Neptun. Jupiter is made of 90% hydrogen and 10% helium.

Jupiter is also known for its big red spot. The red spot is really a hurricane that has been going on for at least three hundred years. Jupiter has no solid surface under its thick coloered clouds. Jupiter also gives off two times more heat as it gets from the sun. If Jupiter was hollow more then one thousand Earths could fit inside it. Jupiter also has a faint ring around it. It also has winds that go over four hundred mph.

If you weigh seventy pounds on Earth you would weigh one hundred eighty-five pounds on Jupiter. Jupiter also has more then twenty-eight moons. Astronomers named Jupiter after the king of the great Roman gods. On Jupiter it only takes ten hours to go from night to day.

The center of Jupiter is a big chunk of ice and rock. Jupiter its self is also made of liquid hydrogen. It also contains two thirds of planetary mass. Jupiter is also the first gas planet in our Solar System. It is also the first outer planet.

A cool thing about Jupiter is that its symbol looks like a fancy four. Another cool thing about Jupiter is that the colors of its clouds change daily.

Average distance from the sun is 778000000 kilometers. Length of year 11.86 of our years. Jupiter is eleven times Earths diameter and 20% larger than Saturn's.
