Celebrate Freedom Week
November 6-10, 2006

Students at Dr. Joe Ward Elementary show their patriotism by participating in special
events honoring our freedom in America. On Monday, students wore purple in honor of
those men and women who have served our country so proudly. On Tuesday,
students wore red and brought back Stars that have a name or names of family members
who have served in the military and these are placed on a Wall of Honor in the school.
On Wednesday, students wore white and wrote "thank you" notes to
soldiers in the Middle East and to veterans at the local VFW. On Thursday, students
wore blue and made red, white, and blue pinwheels to decorate the campus
in preparation for the Flag Ceremony on Friday. On Friday, everyone wore red, white,
and blue and attended our flag ceremony and we had our military parents
and grandparents in attendance. We were also presented a flag that flew in the Middle
East by a parent, MSgt. Murray, who just returned from a year's tour of the Middle East.
