SOLAR CAR RACES
Fourth and fifth grade students from Dr. Joe Ward Elementary
participated in Solar Car Races this past Saturday at Northside Stadium
through the South Texas Solar Cars Association. Mr. Rory Raven, fourth
grade teacher, sponsored the program at Ward and assisted the students
in applying math, science and creativity to construct the model cars. The
cars use identical solar-electric panels and electrical motors, but participants
enjoyed room to use their creativity in their choice of materials and car
design. One team placed second with competitors coming from all over.
