Freedom Week and Veteran's Day
![]() |
At Dr. Joe Ward Elementary we celebrate our freedom by remembering what the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution stand for during Freedom Week in September. Students learn about our country's history by performing plays and skits and singing songs about the symbols of our nation. On Veteran's Day in November, we thank and honor our Veterans who uphold the ideas of Freedom written in our founding documents and defend our right to be free.

![]() The "white table" became a tradition at military messes and is used today to honor all veterans. The tradition of the white table began during the Vietnam War to honor Veterans, POWs and MIAs. Each piece on the table represents a part of the soldier and his or her life. |
Mrs. Davenport's first Grade class honors our Veterans by hanging yellow stars with names of Veterans from her classroom. |
