All About Me

 

          My name is Cynthia Wallace and I am excited to be teaching first grade this year.  I have been teaching first grade for 10 years, but I have 25 years of experience overall.  My previous teaching assignments were in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten.  I love teaching first grade because it is so exciting to see young children become true readers, writers, and mathematicians in one short year.

          I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1981, with a major in education and a minor in reading.  I went on to get my Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 1984. Six years later, I took the Texas Master Teacher Exam, and I was one of 5% of the teacher’s in the state who took the exam who passed it.  Since that time, I have been able to attend many outstanding staff development opportunities in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and in dealing with students with special needs.

          I have been married 24 years to a wonderful man who is a C.P.A.  We have 4 children, all boys, who keep us very busy.  My oldest 2 sons are in high school at the John Jay Science Academy and my youngest sons, twins, are in the sixth grade.  The boys are involved in a variety of activities ranging from Tae Kwon Do to swimming, to baseball.  We live in the Northside Independent School District and actively support and participate in its programs.
