The first year that Ward
opened our Social Studies Committee planned a full day of activities centered
around the Old West, farming
and ranching. They arranged for the students to see a
real Longhorn cow, up close;
a stagecoach, chuckwagon, participate in a sing along,
learn how quilts were made,
learn about Civil War Drummers and
watch a demonstration of
branding.
