Randal’s Ranch Hands

         Hello, my name is Randal Louk. I am the head Custodian at Dr. Joe Ward E.S. I have had the pleasure of being here for over three years. I have been with NISD for a little over eight years. I love what I do and take pride in always trying to better myself. I look forward to serving NISD and the students for many years to come.

     Having such a large campus to take care of has truly proven to be a challenge. Ensuring that a campus with around 1200 students is clean is not an easy task. Lucky for me I have a good crew to help with this. My porter (Mr. Robert Bell) and myself take care of the cafeteria. I have a crew of five people who clean the school after all the students have left. They are my Assistant Head Custodian, Cindy Gill; Maria Vallarta; Jose Salazar; Norma Serrano; and our part time custodian Adam Mohler. Every night we have to push to get this campus cleaned in time.

     I have started an incentive program to help the student realize the importance of taking pride in their school. It also help teach the six PILLARS OF CHARACTER. I believe that it is working out great. The custodians have noticed that the classrooms are being left much cleaner at the end of the day, which gives them more time to clean places that they did not have time to clean before. The custodians see that the students are taking pride in the school and it makes them want to keep their areas that much cleaner for the students.
