Ensure that every
student is present and on time everyday; set the standard for success!
Be certain the your
child is engaged in learning each day. Let them know that you expect for
them to learn all that the teachers have to offer them each day. Ask your
child each day what they learned; if they respond each day with nothing
it is time for you to visit the school.
Ensure that the learning
and achievement goals are discussed with your child.
Make a 'college jar'
to help set the mind set of your child.
Ensure that you know
who is teaching your child. You should visit with each teacher at least
3 times per year. Ask what the learning outcome of the student was and if
they accomplished them.
Know about your Campus
Improvement Plan (CIP).
Ensure that every
child has at least 10 min. of your undivided attention each day!
Your child needs to
hear each day that you LOVE them. Even if you are mad at them or they are
upset with you. Reassure them each day that you love them.
Ensure that you live
your life so that explanations are not necessary. We have to model what
respect looks like. Our children are always watching and listening. Children
do what they see us doing!!
Ensure that your child
knows that they are a representative of the family and they are not to tarnish
the family image. If they don't uphold the values and standards that you
set for your fine institution called "HOME", hold them accountable.
If punishment is necessary, set punishments that you can make sure are followed
through from the beginning to the end, as our children learn early on how
to push our buttons...in other words they know our weaknesses.
