SCE Math

In SCE Math, we use technology in many ways. Through the use of technology students are able to work on the math skills that are selected based on their needs. A variety of different software programs help students work through math problems and test their knowledge. Among the programs used at Zachry Middle School are:

RiverDeep - this program allows students to take a pretest on a given concept and then assigns lessons based on their answers. Students are able to access the RiverDeeep program at school and at home.

TEKS Workshop - This program was designed within Northside to help students with Math concepts in preparation for the TAKS test.

Students also work through interactive lessons from the World Wide Web. There are lots of great websites out there to reinforce math skills. One of our favorites is gameaquarium.com.

SCE Math is for students in grades 6-8. The following teachers teach SCE Math:

6th & 7th Grade - Mrs. Meggett
8th Grade - Mrs. Giovannelli

Students in 6th grade use a combination of laptops and desktop computers to use RiverDeep and TEKS Workshop. Both 7th and 8th graders use desktop computers in a math "mini-lab". Northside I.S.D. helps ensure that students needs are being met, both instructionally and through the use of technology.
