In ELA students learn to engage with texts as readers and use the texts as models to become effective writers. 6th and 7th grade classes are 90 minutes and 8th grade classes are 45 minutes long. Teachers' teaching is guided by the workshop model, which allows us to naturally intertwine reading and writing rather than teaching each in isolation. Our mission is to cultivate literate students who effectively read, write, and communicate in an ever-changing world. Our vision: Every day, in every ELA classroom, every learner will experience opportunities to develop lifelong literacy and critical thinking skills in an engaging environment that fosters respect, choice, and collaboration.
