Dear Parents, Guardians and Carson Community Members,
I am very excited to join the Carson Elementary community as your new principal. Although this transition is quite different than the one I imagined, I feel extremely blessed to join the Carson family. Since meeting the staff and transitioning with Ms. Shaw, I have had the opportunity to meet our staff and I am so impressed with the fortitude and positive attitude they have embraced during this challenging time. Carson Elementary's reputation in Northside is one to be proud of. The feeling of family and hope radiates from the staff, the students and community.
A little about me. This is my 15th year in education and my 14th year in NISD. During this time, I have served as an 8th grade Algebra teacher, a 5th grade teacher, a Math Specialist, and a vice principal for five years. I attended Stevenson M.S. and I am a graduate of John Marshall H.S. My parents continue to live in the Carson community and support our neighborhood schools. I have two children, both NISD graduates. My son is a senior at UT Austin who is graduating “virtually" at the end of May and my daughter is a recent graduate of O'Connor H.S.
On my first visit to Carson, I was able to meet many of our students and I could not be more impressed by their politeness and pride in our school. I can tell through my chats with them in virtual meetings they love Carson! It will be my priority to continue the legacy of those that have come before me. I am so proud to continue my career as a Carson Cowboy and I look forward to the day when we can finally meet in person. Until then, Ms. DeHoyos and myself are here to support you, our students and our staff during this unprecedented time.
