The World Language Department of Harlan High School uses innovative, research-based approaches to encourage language proficiency in Spanish, French, and Latin for students of all levels. We focus on understanding the products, practices, and perspectives of people around the world and within our own community in order to make cultural connections.
Our goal is to equip all students with the skills that will enable them to communicate in another language, offering them an expanded worldview, and enhancing their career opportunities in San Antonio and beyond.
Our strategy includes using proficiency-based instruction, integrating technology, utilizing authentic materials from the target language culture, and encouraging daily interactions with classmates in order to create engaging and high-quality instruction available to students from novice level to advanced proficiency. We also offer academic options including Dual Language, Pre-AP classes, and AP classes.
