Important Notice for Seniors
The following policy is in effect for the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, for seniors who wish to be exempt from final exams. There will be no senior exemptions until the second semester. This exemption policy will be administered on a course-by-course basis; thus, a senior may be exempt from each course in which he/she meets the following criteria:
- The student has three or fewer days absent during the second semester, excluding school business absences.
- The student is passing the entire school year of a full-year, one-credit course.
- The student’s average for that semester is an eighty (80) or better.
- The student’s conduct grade in that class, for that semester, must be satisfactory or better.
A senior, who is eligible for exemption, may take the exam if he/she desires. Students who have been assigned to the Alternative High School during the current semester are ineligible for exemptions.
There are no final exam exemptions for the following courses: all dual credit courses, college final exams for On Ramps courses, College Prep Math, and English 4 College Prep (portfolio). Seniors who are exempt from Final Exams are not exempt from being counted absent from school.
Seniors who are exempt from taking finals, but are not in attendance, will be marked absent. These absences will be considered excused absences. These absences will not be held against exempt seniors for purposes of perfect-attendance recognition. These absences will not negate their exemptions from the exams (due to more than 3 absences).
