Due to the impact of COVID-19 on students, the state of Texas enacted House Bill 4545. This bill requires school districts to provide accelerated instruction during the 21-22 school year for students who “Did Not Meet Grade Level” or did not take STAAR in the spring of 2021. Students who did not take STAAR were given a beginning of year assessment. If they failed the assessment, they are covered under HB 4545.

For guardians whose student is 1) currently in the 9th grade and 2)did not pass their 8th grade STAAR Reading and/or Math assessments, the state mandates that a brief virtual meeting be scheduled to develop a plan of support for your student.
