Dear Northside Class of 2020
As we navigate through these difficult times, we have thought of you often and realize just how significant the impact has been for you, our Class of 2020, and for your families and friends. In spite of what you have lost from the spring semester of your senior year, our goal is to provide you with a graduation event that honors and celebrates you and your accomplishments.
Northside ISD still maintains hope that we can provide an in-person graduation event. We have secured dates for late summer, specifically July 17-26, in the hopes that this will be possible. However, we are committed to keeping students, families, and staff safe and will adhere to recommendations from public health authorities regarding large gatherings. In the event that an in-person graduation is not possible, we are moving forward with plans to develop a virtual graduation experience for students and families. That work must begin now.
While plans have not been finalized, we anticipate the virtual experience to be one that honors students individually and that would be available in early to mid-summer. Your high school campus will be reaching out to you soon with instructions on how to pick up your cap and gown and also how to submit a photo in your cap and gown for the virtual graduation ceremony.
I remind you to stay engaged with all of your classes as it is critical that you earn all credits necessary for graduation. Do not hesitate to reach out to your teachers or your school for guidance or support. The physical building may be closed, but the staff remains in place to help you.
We will remain in communication with you and your family regarding decisions on our 2020 graduations. Again, know that our intention is to celebrate you and your accomplishments and to do so in a manner that is safe, personal, and memorable.
Thank you for the contributions you have made to your class and to your school.
Dr. Brian Woods Superintendent
