18 Northside student-athletes awarded with Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship

The Valero Alamo Bowl celebrated student athletes from San Antonio area high schools for their outstanding athletic and academic achievements at the H-E-B scholarship recipient luncheon held recently. A record breaking 91 high school seniors were awarded scholarships; 18 of those recipients from Northside ISD.

The Valero Alamo Bowl awarded the high school seniors a combined $1.1 million in scholarships, which is more than any other bowl game. They will be recognized on the field at the 2022 Valero Alamo Bowl.

Northside ISD 2022 Scholarship recipients are:

Nicholas Amann, NSITE High School – Captain of the swim team at Holmes High School and is also on the varsity water polo team. He plans to attend Texas A&M University to study Public Health.

Becca Crisp, Brandeis High School – Captain of the swim team at Brandeis High School and is also a regional qualifying cross-country runner. She plans to attend the University of Texas to pursue medical school.

Kylie Douglas, Communications Arts High School – Four-year varsity member of the track team and a state qualifier. She plans to attend the University of Texas.

Karinna Felsing, O’Connor High School – Member of the state champion O’Connor softball team. She plans to attend Rice University to pursue a Biology degree.

Lucas Fitzgerald, O’Connor High School –Captain of the tennis team and is also a three-year member of the Varsity Orchestra. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University.

Samantha Garcia, Warren High School – Captain of the swim team and water polo team at Warren High School. She plans to attend Texas A&M University to become a chemical engineer.

Daniella Gonzalez, Taft High School –Three-year varsity captain and two-year regional qualifier for Taft`s Cross-country team, a two-year captain of the track team, and member of student council and National Honors Society. She plans to attend the University of Texas to study Physical Therapy.

Jack Hamil, Harlan High School – Four-year football player at Harlan high School and is also on the track team. He plans to attend UTSA to study Physical Therapy.

Rebekah Jones, Jay High School –Three-year varsity member of the track and field team, and a two-year member of Jay`s AFJROTC. She plans to attend Texas A&M to study Construction Science.

Lauren Liguez, Brennan High School – Captain of the soccer team with 1st team all-district honors. She plans to attend the University of Texas to study architecture.

Vina Manouchehri, Marshall High School – Captain for her school’s swim and water polo team and a class officer. She plans to study pre-medicine at the University of Incarnate Word.

Bolu Odumosu, Clark High School – Captain of the basketball team and has 1st team All-Academic honors. She is also captain of her decathlon and quiz bowl teams. Bolu plans on studying pre-medicine or psychology at Stanford University.

Arhan Rao, Health Careers High School – Captain for the tennis team and has served as an intern for four years doing cancer research and shadowing a multitude of physicians. He is the Vice President of HOSA Future Health Professionals, and plans to study pre-medicine at the University of Texas.

Christopher Rodriguez, Holmes High School – Captain of the football team and cross-country team. He plans to study architecture and fashion design at Harvard University.

Isaiah Romanski, Brennan High School – Member of the football team at Brennan High School and of National Honor Society. He plans to study computer science and cyber security at UTSA.

William Sanders, CAST Tech High School – Four-year basketball player and serves as the student council president. He plans to study computer science at Rice University.

Juliet Sencion, Stevens High School – Captain of the tennis team and has Academic All-District honors. She is also captain of the debate team and President of the Environmental Science Club. She plans to study computer science at Harvard University.

Bradyn Zingelmann, Brandeis High School – Captain of the Brandeis Football team and has all-district and all-star honors. He is also a member of the track team. He plans to study at Trinity University to become a fire safety engineer.
