6 Fine Arts students earn All-State Jazz & Orchestra honors

Six Northside ISD Fine Arts students from five high schools were selected to the Texas Music Educators’ Association (TMEA) All-State Orchestra and Jazz bands.

Selection to Texas All-State is the highest public school award for individual achievement in music that a student can receive. It represents the top one percent of student musicians in Texas.

 

Brandeis HS

Ray Zhang, 11th grade, Orchestra, Viola (3 years All-State selection)

Brennan HS

Austin Salmon, 11th grade, Jazz, Trumpet

Marshall HS

Brandon Garza, 11th grade, Orchestra, Violin (2 years All-State selection)

O’Connor HS

Solomon Caraway, 11th grade, Jazz, Alto

Taft HS

Seth Sandoval, 11th grade, Jazz, Alto Saxophone

Stephen Cardenas, 11th grade, Jazz, Trapset  

All-State Choir and Band auditions will conclude in January 2022.

Instructors are Kevin Garcia-Hettinger, Brandeis HS; Thomas Kober, Brennan HS; John Thornton, Marshall HS; Alfonso Alvarado, O’Connor HS; and Robert Soto, Taft HS.
