60 teams compete at Regional Science Bowl

More than 60 teams from middle schools and high schools across the San Antonio area competed in the Regional Science Bowl at Stevens High School Feb. 9 and 10.

The top high school and the top middle school teams at the Regional level will advance to compete in Washington D.C. April 26 - 28, all expenses paid.

High School Division Results:

1st – Reagan HS

2nd – Keystone

Middle School Division Results:

1st – BASIS-Shavano

2nd – Hector Garcia MS

Northside schools participating this year are: Brandeis, Clark, Communications Arts, Health Careers, Marshall, and O’Connor high schools and Folks, Hector Garcia, Ross, Rudder, Vale, and Zachry middle schools.

Stevens High School National Honor Society students and ROTC students served as volunteers and set up rooms, collected score sheets, delivered supplies, and set up the school cafeteria.

Last year a team from Brandeis High School advanced to the national competition.

Science Bowl is the only competition sponsored by a federal agency, the U.S. Department of Energy. Northside Middle and High School Science Departments are able to host the San Antonio Regional Science Bowl at no cost to the participating teams through the financial and volunteer support of our community partners including Booz Allen Hamilton, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division, and MITRE Corporation.
