Four Northside high school teams and six individuals advanced to the state high school bowling championship in San Antonio. All qualified after competing at regional tournaments.
Advancing to the state tournament in the girl’s division are teams from Brennan, Health Careers, and O’Connor high schools. In the boy’s division, the Marshall team qualified for state.
In girl’s individual competition, state qualifiers are: Alexis Buchert, Taft HS; Christina Riojas, Brennan HS; and Rebekah VanOver, O’Connor HS.
In boy’s individual competition, Carson Besse and Xavier Salazar, Marshall HS; and Robert King, Brennan HS advanced to the state tournament.
The state championship competition will be held March 24 and March 25 at Bandera Bowling Center.
This year’s bowling season, the 10th in Northside ISD, included teams from brand-new Harlan High School. Also, Stevens HS senior Alejandro Palacios bowled a perfect game, the third in Northside history.
Northside District 1 district champions were the O’Connor HS girls team and the undefeated Marshall HS boys team. Northside District 2 district champions were the Warren HS boys team and the undefeated Health Careers HS Lady Phoenix team, which went on to win the regional championship.
