A celebration of graduates

Class of 2020 Virtual Graduations with three pix of students in grad attire

Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country, the decision was made to not hold traditional graduation ceremonies to keep our seniors, their families, and staff as safe as possible.

“As we navigate through these difficult times, we have thought of you often and realize just how significant the impact has been for you, our Class of 2020, and for your families and friends,” says Dr. Brian Woods, NISD Superintendent. “In spite of what you have lost from the spring semester of your senior year, our goal is to provide our seniors with a graduation event that honors and celebrates you and your accomplishments.”

The 12 virtual graduation ceremonies are accessible by clicking here. In addition, links to the graduation and scholarship programs are also available. Printed copies of the graduation programs are available on each campus.

High school seniors were asked to submit photos to be included in the virtual ceremony. The videos were designed to include the elements of a traditional ceremony including the singing of the alma mater, turning of the tassel, speeches by the Valedictorian and Salutatorian, names called with scholarships, and the playing of Pomp and Circumstance.

“We congratulate each of our graduates and wish them the very best of luck as they move on to the next chapter in their lives,” Woods says.

In addition to the virtual ceremonies, on-campus recognitions were held in June to commemorate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020.
