JROTC drill teams earn national championships

Northside high school JROTC drill teams marched their way back to the National High School Drill Team Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida after a two year in-person absence and did not disappoint!

This year's national competition was different than in the past. It went from two divisions to three divisions based on school/program size, number of instructors and recent/historical competitive strength.

The Brennan and Stevens high school teams competed in Division II and each walked away as Nationals Champions.

The Stevens HS Silver Legion, commanded by Cadet Colonel Jaylynn Batts, was crowned as the Division II Unarmed Drill Team National Champions.

The Brennan HS Phoenix, commanded by Cadet Colonel Catherine Nygaard, earned the title of Division II Armed National Champions.

In the Division I category, the Brandeis HS Drill Hall of Fame Blue Aces Unarmed Drill team came away with their fourth National Championship in as many competitions and their fifth title in the last six events. They were commanded by Cadet Major Triniti Childress.

The Brennan HS Blue Elites Unarmed Drill team, commanded by Cadet Major Helena Saudia, were the Division I Runner-Up National Champions.
