More than 50 teams to compete at Regional Science Bowl for free trip to D.C.

More than 50 teams from middle schools and high schools across the San Antonio area will compete in the Regional Science Bowl at Jay High School Feb. 22 and 23.

Middle school rounds begin Friday afternoon and high school rounds begin Saturday morning. Double elimination rounds for both middle and high schools are Saturday afternoon with the finals estimated to start at 4:30 p.m. for middle school and 5  p.m. for high school. The finals are “Team Jeopardy” format – each team of four students will have buzzers to ring in with their answers.

The top high school and the top middle school teams at the Regional level will advance to compete in Washington D.C. April 25 - 29, all expenses paid.

Northside schools participating this year are: Brandeis, Clark, Communications Arts, Health Careers, Marshall, and O’Connor high schools and Folks, Hector Garcia, Ross, Rudder, Vale, and Zachry middle schools.

Science Bowl is the only competition sponsored by a federal agency, the U.S. Department of Energy. Northside Middle and High School Science Departments are able to host the San Antonio Regional Science Bowl at no cost to the participating teams through the financial and volunteer support of our community partners including Booz Allen Hamilton, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division, and MITRE Corporation.
