Nerdvana Con coming soon

NISD will host the third annual and only event dedicated to encouraging awareness and appreciation of the artistic and literary depth of anime, manga, and graphic art with Nerdvana Con on Saturday, Nov. 9. The event will be hosted at Stevens High from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with doors opening at 10 a.m.

The event is geared towards secondary students and was created as a literary outlet for readers of anime, manga, graphic novels, and comic books.

Keynote speaker will be Kazu Kibuishi, the author of the Amulet series.

Attendees will experience gaming, makerspaces, cosplay, and an escape room, along with having merchandise, books, and food for sale. Attendees can also view and vote for the winners of numerous contests such as an art contest, a 90-second film contest, and a graphic novel contest.

The all-day event will include breakout sessions on graphic novels, comic books, and STEAM activities including KPOP dancing, video game design, author and art workshops and storytelling by Mr. CreepyPasta.

Anime voice actor Lainie Frazier will also be in attendance. She is best known for her voice in the film Sonic the Hedgehog.
