The Northside ISD Board of Trustees named the District’s newest elementary school for a longtime agriculture teacher.
Joey Tomlinson Elementary School will become the 81st elementary school, opening in August 2021.
Tomlinson, an agriculture teacher in NISD for 33 years, worked at Marshall and Holmes high schools, and most recently O’Connor HS before his retirement. He established the horticultural program in NISD and was instrumental in establishing the Marshall Livestock Show and Sale (now named Walter Gerlach Show and Sale.)
He is also well-known in the community as an auctioneer at livestock events and with the Northside Education Foundation.
Tomlinson Elementary School, formerly known for its working name of “FM 471 N area #4” Elementary School, will be located across from Folks Middle School at 9748 Swaybach Ranch. It most likely will relieve overcrowding at Kallison and Scarborough elementary schools however the boundaries have not been proposed or approved.
