Save on school supplies and clothes during annual Sales Tax Holiday Aug. 5-7

For families starting their back-to-school shopping – a reminder that the Annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for Aug. 5 through 7.

As in previous years, most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 are exempt from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

The lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax-free can be found on the Comptroller’s website.

The Northside website has school supply lists for each elementary school.

School supply lists for middle and high school are provided to students by their teachers on the first day of school. Basic supplies, like pens, pencils, and spiral notebooks, can be purchased ahead of time.
