Save on school supplies, clothes, and more during annual Sales Tax Holiday

As back-to-school shopping begins, families are reminded about the Annual Sales Tax Holiday scheduled for Aug. 6 through midnight Aug. 8.

As in previous years, most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 are exempt from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

The lists of apparel and school supplies (including face masks) that may be purchased tax-free can be found on the Comptroller’s website.

The Northside website has school supply lists for each elementary school (and some middle schools.)

School supply lists for middle and high school are provided to students by their teachers on the first day of school. Basic supplies, like pens, pencils, and spiral notebooks, can be purchased ahead of time.
