Students from 21 San Antonio area middle and high schools will compete in the Regional Science Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 29, at Jay High School.
Round robin matches will begin at 8 a.m. with finals about 4 p.m. The finals are “Team Jeopardy” format – each team will have buzzers to ring in with their answers.
Northside campuses participating include Folks, Hector Garcia, Pease, Vale and Zachry middle schools and Brandeis, Clark, Harlan, Jay, Marshall, and O’Connor high schools.
The two champion middle and high school teams will advance to compete at the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., April 30-May 4, all expenses paid.
The regional competition is hosted by NISD Science with financial and volunteer support from Booz Allen Hamilton, Lackland AFB Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division, and MITRE Corporation.
Science Bowl is the only competition sanctioned by a federal agency, the U.S. Department of Energy.
