I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and winter break. We are returning to school with a bang! January is a busy time. Classroom teachers are preparing our students for the series of Bench Mark and STAAR tests that measures the school’s and student’s performance. 3rd grade students take reading and math tests, 4th grade students take the reading, writing, and math tests, and 5th grade students take reading, science, and math tests. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers will be visiting with parents more to explain ways
Lost and Found
There are many jackets, coats, sweaters, and other clothing in our lost and found located in the front hallway by the student restrooms. Please stop by to collect any items you are missing. Also, remember to write your child’s name in their clothing.

One of the ways we support Valley Hi students is by teaching goal setting strategies to our students.
We also use our Day Tutoring program to help support students who need extra help in reading, math, writing, and science. Our tutoring program will return in January.
With the winter weather changes, we noticed a drop in our attendance.
Please continue to encourage your child to attend school every day. Students learn best when they are at school.

STAAR-Y PTA Night
On February 11th, from 6:00—7:30 PM, we are inviting all parents to attend a meeting that will explain the STAAR test, ways you can support your student at school, and some fun things you can do to support your student at home. Please watch for more information to come home soon.
We have had many absences recently due to illness.
Valley Hi ATTENDANCE PERCENTAGES FOR THE YEAR HAS DROPPED to 94.60%.
Our goal is to have our daily attendance be 96% in every class. Please help us encourage your children to come to school every day.
