Welcome Letter

April 20, 2020

Dear Future Wernli Students, Families, and Friends,

Welcome to Wernli Elementary School! My name is Lori Shaw and it is my privilege and honor to serve as the Principal of Wernli Elementary. I am looking forward to meeting you and your family very soon. It is going to be exciting to establish a strong learning culture with our community of learners and families. With the support of our parents, community, teachers, students, and administrators, we will create a vision and mission for our 21st century learners at Wernli. I have had the honor to serve Northside as a teacher and I have served as an administrator for the last 15 years. NISD is certainly my home away from home. I began my teaching career in the fall of 1995 as a second grade teacher with Northside ISD and taught for several years in second and third grade. My successful administrative experience has been shaped by three years of leadership as the Vice Principal at Oak Hills Terrace Elementary, six years as the Principal of Michael Elementary, and six years as the Principal of Carson Elementary. I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to Wernli Elementary. We will be sharing a presentation of our mascot and school color options with you very soon. It was our sincere hope that we could have done this together at Boldt Elementary; however, due to the recent school closure through the end of the 19-20 school year we are going to get creative. We will certainly be planning for an opportunity for a meet and greet once the social distancing and stay home work safe orders are lifted. Please continue to check your emails as this will be our primary mode of communication at this time as our website is still in the developing stages. I look forward to working with all of you as we work towards establishing an academically successful elementary school!

Respectfully,

Lori Shaw, Principal Wernli Elementary
