Coach Marcy came to Northside in the fall of 2005 as one of the most
decorated swimmers in Texas Age Group swimming history, where she was
continuously ranked in the top 16 in the nation (in butterfly and individual
medley) from 1988-1992. After high school, and a 5 year break from the
sport, Marcy returned to swimming at
Palo Alto
College
where she was a Community College All-American.
After her year of swimming at
Palo Alto
, Marcy transferred to
Texas
Tech
University
where she earned her degree in Political Science and Secondary Education.
While there she was on the Dean’s List and involved in several
organizations. After Texas
Tech, Marcy moved to
Wheaton
,
Illinois
(25 miles west of
Chicago
) where she received her Master’s Degree in Educational Ministries from
Wheaton
College
in 2005.
While at
Wheaton
, Marcy began coaching for the Wheaton Swim Club as an age group coach and
asst. national team coach. After
graduation she moved back to
San Antonio
and began coaching with NS 410 in the fall of 2005.
During her time as a coach Marcy has developed a National Top 10
swimmer,
UIL
State Qualifier, numerous
TAGS
medalists, and STAGS champions. She
was recently selected to attend the National Age Group Summit in
Colorado Springs
as the AAAA representative.
Outside of swimming, Coach Marcy enjoys spending time
with friends, playing with her two dogs, Henry and Lucy, and going to the
lake.
Coach Marcy enjoys coaching because it allows her to be share life
lessons through swimming. The
sport provides a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of
young people and forever impact who they are in the years to come. |
