How do I register a student for classes at Blattman Elementary?
Parents are encouraged to register their children for the 2008-2009 academic year.  Registration is necessary for all new and returning students. 
Our office is open Monday-Thursday 7:30-5:00 and Friday 8:00-12:00 through June 23, 2008.  The office will reopen on July 28. 

We recommend coming at least 30 minutes prior to the office closing to allow time for completion of paperwork and to receive any additional assistance we can provide.  Please come by or contact our Attendance Secretary, Elia Rodriguez, at 210-397-4600 for more information. 


Why is it important to register my child for the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year?
Because of growing enrollment and the state-mandated class size requirement, many schools lack space. When the maximum number of students per grade level is reached, newly enrolled students will be transferred to a nearby cluster school (in our case, Colonies North Elementary). Transportation to the cluster school is provided by the district.  By enrolling now and attending the first day of school, your child is more likely to have a space at Blattman and not be transferred.

What is needed to register a student moving into the Blattman area from another Northside school for the 2008-2009 academic year?
If you have moved into the Blattman attendance area and are transferring from another Northside school, parents must complete an AGR card and provide proof of residence (apartment lease, electric bill, CPS bill, telephone bill, etc.).  Parents will also need to inform the previous school of the move.


What is needed to meet eligibility for Kindergarten for the 2008-2009 academic year?
In order to be eligible for Kindergarten, the child must be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2008.


What if we are purchasing a house in the Blattman attendance area and have a scheduled move-in date?
The following is for informational purposes only. All anticipated move contracts must be completed at Northside’s Pupil Personnel Office located at 5900 Evers Rd. Bldg. D, San Antonio, Texas 78238.
The purpose of the Northside ISD Anticipated Move procedure is to avoid multiple changes of a student’s school assignment during a school year. An Anticipated Move Contract permits a family to enroll a child at the school (or the cluster campus, if in elementary school) in the attendance area in which the family will be moving during the 2008-09 school year. That enrollment becomes effective on August 25, 2008, so that the child will not be required to change schools at the time of the move during the school year.
The District provides a 30-day, tuition-free enrollment period. If the anticipated move-in or closing date is within 30 school days of enrollment, no tuition is charged. If the anticipated move-in or closing date is beyond the 30-day tuition-free grace period, then a Tuition Agreement must be completed in order to validate the Anticipated Move Contract.
Anticipated Move transfer requests must be submitted to the Office of Pupil Personnel. A valid sales or lease contract, signed by all parties, and a document showing the closing or occupancy date must be included at the time the request is submitted.
A student who lives outside Northside boundaries may enroll, tuition-free, for 30 school days provided that a Tuition Agreement has been approved for payment of tuition beyond the 30 school day tuition-free grace period.


May I use an Anticipated Move Contract during the summer months to enroll my child before the beginning of school?
No. Children who live in a school’s attendance area before the beginning of the school year receive enrollment priority over students who are moving into the attendance area after the beginning of the school year.
 
If the child is in elementary school, the child’s name will be placed on a list in the order that the anticipated move form was received. If space is available, the child’s registration will be processed and the child will be placed on a class list as of August 18th. If space is not available, the child may enroll at the cluster campus.
