Three beloved educators and a state legislator and U.S. Supreme Court justice dedicated to public service recently were honored as the namesakes for Northside ISD's five newest schools.


Students honor veterans

Northside students celebrated Veterans Day in true red, white, and blue spirit with special recognition ceremonies across the District earlier this week.


Los Leones festival spotlights student artwork

Student artists as young as 4 years old and as old as 18 will exhibit and sell their work and limited edition prints at the 13th Annual Los Leones Student Art Festival.


Nominate a favorite teacher or principal for an H-E-B Education Award

For the first time in the awards eight-year history, nominations for the teaching awards will be accepted online. Nomination forms can also be picked up at any H-E-B store.


Obama takes victory in Northside ISD mock election

Obama received 66 percent of the vote, compared to 31 percent for McCain. About 3 percent of students voted for Libertarian candidate Robert Barr or write-in candidates.


Northside students and staff "just say no" to drugs

The Red Ribbon campaign, sponsored by National Family Partnership, is now the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation.


Volunteers needed to advocate for special education students

Northside ISD is looking for some very special - and much needed - volunteers to serve as "surrogate parents" to special education students who don't have legal guardians.


Marshall grad and former NFL star Priest Holmes kicks off student incentive program at NISD

Priest Holmes returned home to his alma mater this week to kick off a new student incentive program designed to encourage students to stay in school, improve their academics, and cultivate the character traits that build a strong school community.
