Culinary Arts

 

Students serviced in this classroom have identified Culinary Arts/Career Tech in the Transition portion of their ARD. They must be able to perform a multi task assignment for a minimum of 1 hour without a break, follow and understand 2-3 step tasks while on the job site and perform tasks independently. Students must be able to train in the classroom/community for up to 2 hours while demonstrating the ability to follow kitchen safety rules and appropriate food storage. Students must be able to communicate the need for more work/help/clarification, start and finish a task independently and initiate the next step after completion. They must  work in a 1:6 or 1:7 staff/student ratio while in class or in the community.

The Culinary Arts Class has been involved in the following activities:

  • ServSafe Food Handler Workbook and Certificate 
  • Catered 200 box lunches for SARA Charity Golf Tournament at   Dominion Gold Club
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Bi-monthly Food Bank Volunteers
  • Green House Gardening
  • Composting/Worm Farming
  • Landscaping Courtyards
  • Botanical Gardens Field Trip
  • Succulent Garden Club Plant Sale
  • Monthly School-wide Birthday Parties
  • Bi-Weekly Staff Luncheons
  • Special Olympics Concession Stand
