Using Wireless Devices in Northside ISD
Personal Wireless/Mobile Devices Brought From Home
- All Staff, and Students in grades 3–12 connect to the Genesis wireless network with their NISD network usernames and passwords.
- Grades K–2 students, connect with campus generic login.
- Guests
- must have a signed AUP agreement on file.
- connect to the NISD WiFi wireless network, only, for Internet access.
- use the Wireless-Guest account and the “password of the day”.
- Personal devices should not be hard-wired to the network; only wireless access is permitted.
NISD iPod Touch Devices:
- Connect to the Genesis wireless network, only, for Internet access. Grades K-5 iPod configuration set to connect with generic campus password. All staff and grades 6-12 connect to Genesis with their NISD network usernames and passwords.
- NISD Technicians cannot repair or support iPods. iPods must be sent back to the vendor by the campus for repair/replacement.
- CITs/department staff should contact Academic Technology staff or Technology Training & Development staff for assistance and support (connectivity, configuration, management, apps, use, teaching best practices, etc.).
NISD Laptops, Netbooks, and Tablets:
- Generally, can be used like a desktop computer.
- Whole-class use of high-bandwidth applications (online testing, streaming video, etc.) is not recommended. Use a desktop computer lab or classroom/library "wired" desktops instead.
- Staff, and Students in grades 6–12 connect to the Genesis wireless network with their NISD network usernames and passwords
- Grades K–5 student devices auto-login to Genesis.
