Cable team reigns at solar races

May 14, 2013

The sun was shining brightly at the 17th annual Texas Solar Car Event at Gustafson Stadium, as 225 teams from more than 60 elementary schools competed with their solar car creations. After prelims, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, eight teams were awarded top honors.

The two Cable ES teams came out to win, and that they did.

“This team persevered, believed in themselves, worked hard, paid attention to details, and actually believed that they were going to win first place eight weeks ago,” said Cable ES Campus Instructional Technologist Robert Galvan. “They willed themselves to win!”

“Never in the history of Cable Elementary have our students ever made the finals, and now they earned first and third place,” said Rosie Siller, principal.

Congratulations to all the winning teams. They are Cable Fast and Furious, first place; Evers Saber Tooths, second place; Cable Cannon Cubs, third place; Oak Hills Terrace Fire Girls, fourth place; Driggers Crushers, fifth place;  Ward Pranksters, sixth place; Oak Hills Terrace Black Knights, seventh place; and Steubing Diamond Swords, eighth place.
