National Inclusion Week
The week of December 2nd – 6th is the official kick off of National Inclusion Week. Our goal this year is to address inclusion as a global idea and not just as a term that focuses on special needs children. We believe that every student feels good when they are included and we wanted to focus on how we can include every Wolf into the Pack. Our theme this year is, “It takes more than one wolf to make a PACK.” Teachers and students will have a choice of activities which will incorporate the 7 Habits into the week’s activities. They can also choose to participate in showing their support for Inclusion by wearing a designated item of clothing each day. The following lists the items and what they represent for every day that week.
Monday: Think Win-Win! We all win when everyone is included! Wear your favorite tam attire.
Tuesday: Let’s Synergize! Inclusion ties us all together! Wear a tie or scarf!
Wednesday: Seek to understand! Put on your thinking caps and learn about inclusion! Wear your favorite cap!
Thursday: Be Proactive! We will all be proactive and include everyone! Wear red to show you are proactive!
Friday: It takes more than one wolf to make a pack! We are a Wolf Pack! Wear a Wanke shirt!
Help us keep everyone safe!
Our student Patrols do a fantastic job being leaders, by helping out in various areas of the school. The curbside assistance is one way we encourage students to learn the importance of courtesy, citizenship and responsibility.
Please assist us in ensuring their safety by doing the following:
- Wait to drive away once your car door is completely closed and you are sure your child is safely on the sidewalk.
- Remain in the drop off lane until you are signaled to drive on.
- Refrain from using electronic devices unless you are using a bluetooth (it’s the law).
- Use only the right lane to drop off students if you are not parking.
- Be respectful of staff directing community in the crosswalk and traffic.
- Enter the cross walk only when staff gives the signal that it is safe to cross.
We are also excited to inform you that we have been assigned a Northside police officer. He will periodically patrol our school, inside and out, at a different time each day. We know his presence will be critical in fostering an atmosphere of safety at Wanke. You will have the opportunity of meeting him at our next PTA meeting on December 12th.
We thank you for your cooperation in ensuring all our Wanke Wolves and community are safe!
December Coffee Talk
Our next coffee talk “cafecito” will be on December 13th from 9 to 10 am. We will continue with introductions of habits 3 and 4 of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids.
