NAHS Teacher Honored by Stanford University
Melissa Michalak was recently honored by Stanford University for her dedication as an educator and mentor. As part of Stanford University’s annual Teacher Tribute Initiative,
Mrs. Michalak was nominated by a former student, Jessica Spicer, who wrote:
Mrs. Michalak’s commitment to teaching goes well beyond
the classroom. Over the years she has pioneered a course
structure that allows students of any academic background
to study the material with confidence and ease. In her
classes, students take academics past classroom work
and into a field of exploration that makes learning enjoyable
and accessible to everyone. Mrs. Michalak’s students feel
empowered to pursue help and knowledge, and are never
without a mentor to guide them.
NAHS is honored to have Mrs. Michalak as part of a dynamic Science department. In her role at NAHS, Mrs. Michalak consistently meets the intellectual, academic, and social needs of her Chemistry and Physics students while holding them to the academic rigor expected of all NISD students.
